Singapore Employment Contract Template

MOM-compliant employment contract covering Key Employment Terms, salary, leave, IP assignment, and notice — for full-time and contract roles.

When to use this template

Required for every employee, regardless of seniority or pay. Singapore's Employment Act mandates Key Employment Terms (KETs) be issued in writing within 14 days of joining. This template covers KETs and goes further with IP, confidentiality, and non-solicitation clauses.

How to fill it in

  1. Customise: job title, start date, salary, working hours, probation period, notice period (minimum per Employment Act).
  2. Annual leave: minimum 7 days for first year of service, increasing with tenure. Most companies offer 14–18 days.
  3. Sick leave: 14 days outpatient + 60 days hospitalisation if employed >6 months. Cannot offer less.
  4. Probation: typically 3 or 6 months with shorter notice (1 week to 1 month).
  5. IP assignment: include clauses assigning all work-product IP to the company. Critical for tech and creative roles.
  6. CPF: mandatory for SC/PR employees. Foreign employees on EP/S Pass do not contribute. Ensure your payroll provider is set up before the first salary run.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work for all employees?

Yes — for full-time staff earning under $4,500/month, the Employment Act applies in full. For higher earners, most Act provisions still apply but some (overtime, retrenchment benefits) do not. Adjust the contract terms accordingly.

Do I need to register the contract anywhere?

No, but you must keep a signed copy and provide the employee with a copy. MOM may ask for it during audits or disputes.

What about EP holders?

Same contract applies. The EP application separately requires you to declare the salary, role, and qualifications, but the employment contract is the binding legal document between employer and employee.
