Validate your proposed company name against ACRA's naming rules before paying for reservation. Catches missing suffixes, prohibited words, restricted terms, and other issues that delay or block approval. One-click handoff to Bizfile for the official availability check.
A Singapore private limited company must end with "Pte. Ltd.", "Pte Ltd", or "Private Limited". Public companies use "Ltd" or "Limited". LLPs use "LLP". The suffix is part of the legal name - using a different one is grounds for rejection.
ACRA rejects names that are identical to or "too similar" to existing entities. Differences in punctuation, articles (The, A), or generic words don't count - "Tech Co" is too similar to "Tech Company". Check Bizfile's directory before reserving.
Words like "Bank", "Insurance", "School", "Medical", "Law" require approval from MAS, MOE, MOH, or Law Society. "Singapore", "National", "ASEAN", "Royal" are sensitive and need ACRA discretion. "Temasek", "Government" - prohibited outright.
Clean names approve in ~15 minutes through Bizfile. Names with restricted words triggering external referral (MAS, MOE, etc.) take 2-8 weeks. Once approved, your name is reserved for 120 days - incorporate within that window or reapply.
